The menu in the left frame was created with treemenu. If you called this page directly and no menu was created, you may call the main page with active javascript to show the menu.
First of all you may look into the offered packet to see the functionality and the content of treemenu and/or you may visit the discussion.
A menu must be intuitive to use and clearly arrange the content of a homepage. The scripts available from the internet usually serve this needs. But maintaining and adapting the scripts to changing contents often is complicated and leads to errors. Also most of these scripts don't allow the users to dynamically configure the menu (layout, cookies, ...) due to their needs.
The Script 'Treemenu.js' (see left Frame) closes the afore mentioned deficiencies. The use and further spread of the script is allowed as far as the conditions of the GNU general public license are followed. The script was tested using the Internet Explorer (version 6), Mozilla (version 1.6), Netscape (version 7) and Opera (version 7.23). Due to the use of a conservative command set of javascript it can be assumed that older browsers should have no difficulties with this script.
The Script in this package
The visitors can dynamically configure the settings of the menu (layout, last called page, ...) and save these informations in cookies. These settings can be restored the next time he returns. The use of cookies will be activated only if the browser accepts cookies or if the visitor asked for cookies explicitly. The 'TreeMenu' naturally should be used in frames. By changing the language the appropriate page of the new language will be loaded automatically if cookies are set. The visitor recognizes which page is loaded in the main-frame by an automatic selection of the accessory item in the menu-frame.
