Starting situation

The platform at H=26.0m serves for the bearing of a reversed, pear shaped pe-reactor. The working load of the pe-reactor is about 3000kN (300to.). Numerous steel constructions are connected to the aparatur rack to carry vessels, piping and more. The apparatus rack was to be verified for earthquake.

What we did

The axes of the rack were individually idealized and calculated. With respect of the dead loads and the additional loads due to the working conditions, the first three natural frequencies were calculated and superimposed to verify earthquake. The verifications were done for the overall system as well as for all decisive joints.
