The fuel cooling installation of a nuclear power plant should be covered with a working platform of aluminium. The verifications had to be done for vertical live loads of 5,0kN/m2 and earthquake accelerations of up to 4,9m/s2 in horizontal and vertical direction.
The verifications for the platform and its coating have been led according to several german standards (DIN), drafts (DIN-V / ENV) and guidelines (DIBt-Ri.). The reduction of the allowable stresses near the weldings have been taken into account. The verifications for earthquake were based upon the guidelines of the nuclear power plant committee (KTA 2201). With respect of the dead loads and the additional loads due to the working conditions, the first three natural frequencies were calculated and superimposed to verify earthquake.
