The riveted natural gas sphere, built in the year 1948, should be further used under optimized conditions. All calculations were destroyed due to fire. During the months november to march one load cycle (filling by night, emptying during the day) has to be considered.
First we had to measure the gas sphere (rivets, wall thicknesses,...). With the well-known characteristics of the basic material and the rivets we calculated the limit pressure for the sphere based upon the current codes and estimated the remaining lifetime due to material fatigue.
