The telescopic gasholder with the outside diameter 75,8m, a maximum eaves height of 26m and a volume of 70000m3 showed irregularities already during the testing phase: clamping of the lifting parts and slope of the roof. Additional bracings and beams as well as higher prestressed springs at the roller suppport helped to enhance the operation. During subsequent revisions of the gasholder many strongly deformed stanchions of the shells had to be exchanged and reinforced. Furthermore the shell plates were welded to the stanchions at intermediate points. During further operation parts of the roof burgled and had to be repaired. Also the shell plates of the telescope and the roof began to frequently tear open up to 50cm length.
We wrote an expertise for the reason of the teared up shell plates, gave our assessment for the remaining lifetime of the shell plates (fatigue) and valuated the usability of the gasholder for further operation. Also we did the statical calculation for the necessary repair and maintenance including the complete outlift of the telescope.
